3-day immersion in the Art of Facilitation

Building on what you learned in Level 1, this training takes you deeper into the craft of facilitating Rites of Passage. Practical skills, live group work, and direct feedback so you can hold the work confidently in your own context.
For teachers, youth workers, parents, outdoor educators, counsellors, therapists, community organisers, team and business leaders, elders, and anyone called to guide others through transformation.

An immersive 3 day experience

Day 1

Facilitation in the field

Step directly into the role of facilitator on Day 1. Building on your Level 1 foundations, you’ll apply the Rites of Passage Framework in live group scenarios. Learn to read the room, adapt in real time, and hold space for the unexpected. This is where theory becomes practice and where your confidence as a facilitator begins to take root.
Day 2

Designing and prototyping

Day 2 is dedicated to creation. You’ll design original facilitation games and experiences, prototype them with the group, and receive direct feedback from peers and facilitators. Learn enrolment skills the language of invitation and develop your ability to consult with groups in ways that build trust, clarity, and momentum.

Day 3

Integration and next steps

The final day is about consolidation and forward momentum. You’ll integrate the skills developed across the three days into a clear, actionable plan for your own facilitation practice. Leave with refined tools, a sharpened identity as a facilitator, and a community of peers who will continue to support your growth long after the program ends.

Dr Arne Rubinstein, OAM

He has over 30 years experience as a medical doctor, counsellor, mentor, speaker and workshop facilitator. The programs, seminars and camps he’s helped to develop have been attended by more than 450,000 people globally, while some of the largest schools in Australia have implemented the framework effectively.

The programs are designed to support boys and girls successfully make a safe, healthy transition into adulthood. His goal is to make Rites of Passage mainstream once again. With the intended result to see more connected communities and families supporting each other and developing in healthy ways.

Dr Arne is the proud father of two wonderful young men and a mentor to many others.

Location

The site is located at 1 Coopers Lane South, Main Arm.

To get to the site from Mullumbimby:

  • travel along Main Arm Road for 5km
  • turn left into Coopers Lane and drive for 1 km
  • turn left into Coopers Lane South
  • follow the signs and take the first driveway on your right, keep right as you enter the driveway, and go straight ahead through the gate
  • follow the signs and drive through the open space (car park) and up the hill
  • follow signs, staying left at the next fork
  • the road will be sealed for the first 500 meters then dirt for the next section so take it slow
  • the dirt section can be a bit rough in parts – if your car is struggling to get up a hill on the dirt section, the easiest solution is often to reverse back and try again
  • keep driving up until you reach a white building – car park to the right
  • it is a steep driveway but you will be fine in any car!

Transport options from the nearest airports will be shared with registered participants ahead of the program.

Start and finish times will be confirmed with all registered participants in advance of the program date.

Emergency contact details for the facilitation team will be provided to all participants upon registration.

Camping details including accommodation type, what to bring and setup information will be shared with registered participants.

Toilet and shower facilities are available on site. Further details will be included in your pre-program information pack.

Byron Bay enjoys a subtropical climate. Be prepared for warm days and cooler evenings. We run programs in all weather — come prepared for both sun and rain.

A full packing list will be provided upon registration. In general, bring comfortable outdoor clothing, sunscreen, insect repellent and an open mind. Leave behind devices and distractions where possible.

Please contact us directly to discuss our cancellation and refund policy. We aim to be as flexible as possible and work with participants on a case-by-case basis.

Wholesome, nourishing meals are provided throughout the program. Please advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of registration.

We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance prior to attending. This is particularly important for international participants.
