Mother & Daughter relationships deepened

A 3-day camp for you to connect and build foundations for the teen years ahead.

This time between childhood and adolescence doesn’t last long. This camp gives you and your son three days together to not only connect, but to understand the changes that are happening for both of you and how this affects your relationship. Time to reconnect, to listen, and to build a foundation strong enough to support you both through the challenges ahead.

“A very profound step into the unknown with my son that took us on a guided and supported journey. I was deeply moved by what we were helped to uncover in terms of our relationship and my own personal growth.”

Understand the change
Learn what’s shifting for him as he grows, and how to keep your relationship strong as the dynamic changes between you.
A community of guides and mentors
Your son will be held by experienced facilitators, mentors, and supportive adults who know how to walk alongside boys this age.
Share new experiences
Build memories that grow with you, in nature, around the fire, away from the noise of everyday life.
Honour who he's becoming
Help your son recognise his gifts and step into the next stage of his life knowing he has been seen.

Bond with your son and other families.

Three days in nature with your son, away from the noise of everyday life. Time to slow down, play, talk, and reconnect at an age when the relationship is starting to shift.
This is a moment that matters in his development. Camp gives you both the grounding and the language to navigate what’s coming. How he’s changing, what he needs from you, and how the two of you stay close as he grows.
You’ll take home more than memories. You’ll take home a stronger relationship, and the tools to keep building on it for years.

Meet The
Head of Camps

As Head of Camps, Karim has been with ROPI since he first attended a camp of his own over 25 years ago. Now as a Youth Worker, Mentor and Educator he has paid it forward to the community by leading other young men.

He has a deep passion for this work and for seeing genuine connection build. Now as a father of 2, the connections he sees form on these camps hit differently.

Location

Our property is located in the Byron Bay hinterland — a stunning forest property with a large covered area for meals and gatherings, as well as two giant teepees. In the event of wet weather, we have you covered.

The site is located at 1 Coopers Lane South, Main Arm.

To get there from Mullumbimby:
— travel along Main Arm Road for 5km
— turn left into Coopers Lane and drive for 1km
— turn left into Coopers Lane South
— follow the signs and take the first driveway on your right
— keep driving up until you reach a white building — car park to the right

It is a steep driveway but you will be fine in any car!

Both the Gold Coast and Ballina airports are around one hour’s drive from the campsite. We usually find the Gold Coast airport offers cheaper fares as it is larger and has more flights.

As we are in a regional town, public transport is not an option. If you are interested in carpooling from the airport, please let us know and we will put you in touch with other people who are also keen. Alternatively you can get an Uber from the airport — the cost is around $150 each way.

We start at 3pm NSW time on Friday, and finish at 2pm on Sunday. It is essential that you arrive on time so please keep us posted if you are delayed on 0402 610 597.

As there is limited phone reception on site, you can give your emergency contacts the number for Joel Leske, Head of Operations, who will be available throughout the camp and can get messages to you in an emergency.

This is a weekend of camping — either in your own tent or one you have hired from us. All people coming to the camp will be sleeping in tents rather than vehicles or caravans.

As we are off grid, we have composting toilets, solar power and limited showering facilities. We recommend you bring a pack of biodegradable moist towelettes for ease of freshening up.
We expect pleasant days, blue skies and cool nights around a fire. However this time of year is unpredictable with showers or rain. Please check the forecast and come prepared — expect days up to 25°C with evenings around 15°C. Bring warm clothes for the evenings.

This is a weekend of camping in tents — note you cannot sleep or access your vehicle during the camp. If you have not booked camping equipment and need it, you can hire it from us — please email us if you need to book it.

Our camps are fully catered and accommodate dietary requirements (and yes, we also have tea and coffee!). As we supply all food, please do not bring other food or snacks unless for medical reasons.

On Saturday night, there might be a chance to share music, a story, a poem or performance around a fire. If you or your child have an instrument you enjoy playing, please feel free to bring it along.

A big part of this camp is being able to switch off and enjoy time with your child. We will have staff on site to take photographs which we will share after the event. We ask you to leave phones, watches and other technology at home or in your car for the duration of the camp.

If you need to make changes more than 12 weeks before the program, we will charge a $50 administration fee. Between 6–12 weeks before the program, changes are subject to a cancellation fee of 10% of the total program cost. We are unable to offer refunds within six weeks of commencement unless we can rebook the space.

We strongly encourage domestic travel insurance — policies from as little as $35–70 cover airfares, accommodation and program costs. One we recommend is Insure and Go (Silver Level — up to $10,000 coverage, $100 excess).
