Making of Men
Father & Son Boys 14‑17
Support your son in his transition to young adulthood
Bay, Australia
A 5-day camp for boys and their father or male mentor to strengthen their bond as he grows into a young adult.
An evidence-based program supporting boys to become great men. Boys need support and guidance to make a healthy transition into becoming great young men. Parents also need to shift and redefine the relationship once he is no longer a boy. We give you the tools and experience to do just that.

What a humbling experience to have my son cross the line and start his journey into manhood not only in the presence of great men but supported by great men

What an incredible team you have working here. The staff are a real credit to the institute
The journey was considered and carefully curated, which created a safe, caring, supported, environment for sharing, opening oneself, and trusting the process
The men got unbelievable benefit from this program (not just the boys)
I saw my son’s growth, awareness and confidence increase, which enabled a space to acknowledge his unique strength and qualities
I was given the opportunity to say important things to my son, in front of everyone, in a comfortable and safe space.
The program is so professionally run on every single level

Frequently asked questions.
What actually happens on the program?
The program is a mixture of games and activities as well as a more serious side where we will be sharing stories as a way of passing on wisdom and knowledge, spending time relaxing around a fire, and in a facilitated discussion.
We create healthy, safe challenges to help your boys explore who they want to be in the next stage of their life and what behaviours they need to let go of. We will also create personal visions for the future and spend time recognising and acknowledging the gifts, talents and genius in each of us.
Are the camps religious in nature?
Can I use my phone at camp?
We create a sense of separation from your regular way of being. No phones, no routines, no watches and no computer — it helps us to be really present, think about things differently and have real conversations that don’t normally happen.
What is the involvement for the mothers?
Mothers play such a vital role in the Rite of Passage process, even though you are not physically at the camp. Mothers are invited to a Zoom call with our women’s team and to attend the leaving and return ceremonies on the first and last day of camp.
The Leaving Ceremony is purely for Mothers and Accompanying Women. The Returning Ceremony is a celebration to welcome back your Young Man and is open for all family and friends to attend.
If you cannot attend in person, you can join a Zoom call with our women’s team on either ceremony day.
I urgently need to contact someone on camp — what do I do?
Since our camps are tech free and there is no reception on the property, our staff can get a message to participants in an emergency.
For urgent matters: call 02 6698 6158 or 0402 610 597
For less urgent matters: email info@ritesofpassageinstitute.org
